Photos from the 50's & 60's now rediscovered

Just over a year ago my father died and my mother spent the last year reordering her life after fifty-two years of marriage. One of the things to be catalogued were their old slides, hidden away in boxes and stored deep at the back of a cupboard for the best part of fifty years.

There were 842 images in all spanning from their individual world trips from 1955 through until their meeting in 1961. Then came their passage to Australia and their earliest years together with the slides ending around 1975 when they switched to prints and albums.

Here's a selection of the slides we've digitalised. Once we've catalogued them all I'll post more, but even with these scant few, there's a sense of a time long gone and an even stronger sense that my parents, as amateur photographers, had considerable talent.

Great Pictures

Sometimes we need to be reminded of this incredible world we live in and the value of the creative eye of artists who capture it at its best.
Thank you.

Pictures of Pure Joy # 2

I love the net - not just for the crazy, wonderful and amazing things you can find, the incredible diversity of what gets posted, or the instant answers to every conceivable question - but also because sometimes you find people, learn about their life journeys, marvel at what others achieve and find yourself inspired and wanting to do just that little bit better because of it.

I am often moved, motivated and even cheered up by what others have been brave enough to share.

That's great isn't it? And does it matter they may never know I interacted? Not really - that's also what's great about the net - you can just put things out there and let them bounce around to all corners of the earth.

Then every now and again someone takes the time to tell me about something or share something with me directly - just to say hello or thanks.

That's nice too. :)

Here's some more joy I found......

This book was so intriguing I hardly put it down. Wonderfully written it does not linger on any
one event nor does it speed through scenes making it a poor read. The characters were well
thought out and the inner turmoils they all face are far from dull.

 Great read.

A story filled with with love, hate, violence, peace and so much more. 538 pages of wondering what will happen
next. A FULL story from start to finish. Thanks to the author for sharing a great work with the readers.

For this to have been a free book, it was wonderful. The author keeps you on the edge of your seat. I couldn't
put this down. I think this would make a great movie!

 Amazing

Perfectly written with great detail it was thought provoking and asked the fundemental question of would you
stick up for what you believed was right even if you would be killed for doing so.
